Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Under the supervision of a Lab Manager/Scientist, evaluate mechanical properties of plastic composites such as tensile strength, flexural strength, and impact strength.
  • Under the supervision of a Lab Manager//Scientist, evaluate thermal behaviors of plastic composites using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Differential Thermal Analysis (DSC).
  • Perform measurements of moisture content, density of plastic composites.
  • Under the supervision of engineers, assist operation of thermoplastic and/or thermoset processing such as mixing, extrusion, and molding.
  • Organize operation manuals of processing and test equipment and remove outdated manuals in the library. Update manuals for several machines removed, replaced, upgraded.
  • Responsible for maintaining a complete, accurate and up-to-date laboratory notebook.
  • Use fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures associated with working in a specialty chemical laboratory environment.
  • Analyze and interpret test data and prepare summaries for use by supervisor and other colleagues.
  • Perform or coordinate laboratory, equipment and instrument maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
  • Ensure laboratory operations are carried out in a manner consistent with the highest standards related to safety, health and the environment.  Proactively address and correct all unsafe behaviors and conditions

 

Qualifications

  • A college student majoring in either Chemistry or Engineering 
  • Strong Verbal and Written Skills
